Ms. Mahoney’s Theatre and Tech Classes 2025-2026
This class will be performance based with writing and literature components. All work will relate to the Florida State Standards for Theater 9-12, which can be accessed by clicking here.
PLEASE NOTE: Recording of any type in this class is strictly prohibited. This includes audio, visual, still, and motion recordings of any type – EVEN SELFIES. This policy does not apply to administrators, staff, or yearbook personnel on OFFICIAL yearbook business.
Attendance:
Research proves that regular attendance in school is necessary for a student to be successful. In Theatre class, particularly, a production is built by a group of students – even “one man” shows have lighting and sound directors, makeup artists, front of house workers, and so forth. If students are not present on a daily basis, the work of the entire class suffers. Therefore, students MUST attend EVERY day in order for this class to be successful. We are counting on you!!
Please note that if a student misses a class day where a group performance occurs, the performance will occur without that student, and the student will earn a 0%. Group performances can NOT be made up. These are theatre classes, and in theatre, the show must go on!!
Grading Policy:
All assignments are due by the start of class on the due date. No late work will be accepted. Exceptions to this policy include the following:
- A student who is legally absent from class has two days to make up missed written work or solo performances. Group performances may not be made up due to the nature of the performance. Please plan accordingly.
- A student may turn in a major written assignment or project up to three days late with an email from his/her parent/guardian acknowledging that he/she is aware the assignment is late. This may be done only once per semester.
Students who are dissatisfied with the grade earned on a major written assignment may re-write the assignment for a new grade. This may be done only after conferencing with the teacher. Re-writes will be accepted up to two weeks after the original assignment is returned. Re-writes must be attached to the email chain containing the originally submitted assignment. Rewrites may not be done on original assignments which earn a grade of 0%.
